Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We neither retain nor log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained so our team can answer it. We keep the message within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical information when a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps and time spent on visited pages
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- The referring site, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help show how visitors use the site, including which pages draw traffic and where sessions end. Analytics providers combine that traffic data. You may block cookies through your browser, although doing so can change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Maintaining site speed and availability
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Understanding which pages are useful
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Morgan County Criminal History does not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It explains how to reach the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, the criminal courts, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency repository, and the Alabama Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party record files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information entered there. We do not control those practices, so review the selected provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Alabama agencies, legal aid resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before giving it personal information.
Advertising providers may track activity across websites for targeted ads. That tracking occurs through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, so those measures cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If a minor's data was provided, contact us so it can be deleted.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence. The Alabama Open Records Act, Ala. Code § 36-12-40, governs access to qualifying public writings held by government custodians. Criminal-history information is also subject to dissemination limits, including Ala. Code § 41-9-601. Those public-record laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. For data held by this site, you may:
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Ask for a copy of personal data held about you
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable
- Request deletion of your data
