Criminal Cases in the Morgan County Courts
Morgan County is Alabama's Eighth Judicial Circuit. Circuit Court is the general-jurisdiction felony trial court after indictment. District Court hears state misdemeanors, traffic matters, felony preliminary proceedings, and a street-arrest felony before indictment. Morgan County Felony Case Routing
A common Morgan County record trap is assuming every felony file starts and stays in Circuit Court. After a street arrest, an officer generally swears an affidavit before a magistrate and secures a warrant.
